Boat Assembler

Whittley Cruisers are seeking to expand their team in the Assembly area.

The purpose of the position is to assemble all componentry into a unit on time, as specified; whilst maintaining the quality finish as specified by the company.

Training is predominantly on the job, and the operator will seek guidance from the immediate supervisor.

You will need to be confident to use the following equipment: Power tools / hand tools, spray equipment, saws, drills, jigsaws, spray pots, sanders, glue guns/pots, linisher, router, buzzer, scissors, Stanley knives, air gun.

Your responsibilities will include: Fit out/install and assemble boats in accordance with the specification for the unit, drilling, cutting, setting out, painting, carpentry and wood work, electrical/mechanical work, upholstery etc

In this role you must have a good memory and problem solving skills, common sense with the capacity to earn and high energy levels. There is very attractive overtime as an option, with sick leave and continuous service bonuses. There are staff and team incentives in place and financial increases for those who stand out and show promise. Whittley Cruisers are seeking to expand their team in the WOODSHOP area who ideally has building/construction experience with house frames for the purpose of manufacturing stringers (timber structure) for the boats

Sewing Machinist / Motor Trimmer

Whittley Cruisers are seeking to expand their team in the UPHOLSTERY area where you will ideally have Machinist/Motor Trimming experience

In this role you will be manufacturing cushions and covers for the boats, predominantly in Vinyl and canvas. You will be working with industrial machines and a walking foot. Over locking experience a plus

Engineering Fabricator / Pattern (Plug) Maker

Whittley Cruisers are seeking to expand their team in the Engineering Department and are seeking a Fabricator / Pattern Maker. In this role you will be required to produce patterns and fiberglass moulds, jigs and manufacturing aids, and coordinate the process to take place through to the manufacturing stage.

You will ideally have an engineering background with an exposure or understanding of light steel and fiberglass fabrication. A background in the Marine or Automotive industry will be highly regarded with previous supervisory experience.

Fibreglass

Whittley Cruisers are seeking to expand their team in the Fibreglass area. Working with a team of 18 you MUST have fiberglass experience, be committed and reliable.

Team leader opportunities are available for those who are willing to step up and prove they are capable.

Roles available:
  • Laminator
To apply a consistency of thickness and uniform coating without flaws or air bubbles; using spray guns, rollers, cutting wheels etc. Your duties will include rolling, trimming, sanding, flow coating and installation of transom and stringers.
  • Gel Coater
To apply a consistency of thickness and uniform coating without spots or thin areas. Duties include taping, waxing moulds, touch ups and mould maintenance
  • Cutting booth
To cut componentry for a unit using Power tools /hand tools, saws, sanders, jigsaw. Your duties include Cutting, Drilling, Sanding, Adjusting, Pulling parts out of moulds
  • Team leaders / supervisors
The scheduling, organizing coordination of the area in order to produce a consistent and uniform product commensurate with quality standards as specified. To bring together all facets of material and manpower.

Whittley Cruisers are seeking a dedicated and motivated person to detail, clean and prepare boats before they leave the floor.

You MUST have previous cleaning/detailing experience preferably in a supervisory capacity.

Flexibility to work necessary Saturdays is preferred.
